During a recession, or just preparing for the winter can be a costly task. But if you are willing to employ your bulk store and a crock pot, you will find that this situation is easily overcome with a little out of pocket cost to you.

Whether it's winter, the recession, or what some believe is a looming stock market crash, you can never be too prepared. Over the decades we have been conditioned to believe that no serious tragedy could ever happen to us live outside the red zone duringHurricanes Katrina and Rita, I have learned that this kind of complacency is not a happy ending for all.

I'm not sure that you are bunkers for the next apocalypse should, but you should be aware of time-economic, social, and political climate. There is no better time to your local store in bulk or surplus to embrace as now. The once a year membership to these businesses pales in comparison to what you spend in the supermarket. Do not forget to pay the membership feefor itself in savings by the second, if not the first shopping spree. My own membership pays for itself halfway through ringing my first bill.

But do you think, "What do I do with that all food as soon as I got home, I can not just throw everything in the freezer." That's right. They should not just throw food in the freezer and forget about it while it is freezer burn. The purpose of the shopping smart and save money during a recession, and other hard timessince you’ll be forced to throw out the food.

When I go shopping at the local bulk store, I am 100% ready to spend an entire weekend-and sometimes a couple extra evenings on top of that-preparing meals for the freezer. Of course, I’d never slave over a hot stove to do that. I take my bulk meats and throw them into the crock pot to come out with beef crock pot recipes and even pork crock pot recipes that can be cooled placed in freezer bags and kept good for up to a year or more in the Freezer. And it's not just the meals that I can with it. A good crock pot dessert recipe can be stored in an airtight plastic containers in the freezer for up to six months.

If that's not enough, remember that other issues, such as spices and nuts may also in large quantities of much cheaper and can also be frozen if the need be purchased. Even if you do not always pre-cook your spices and nuts in the crock pot before freezing want to, take an inventory of these items and remember toadd them to your recipes as you use your crock pot. This will not only save time but also money, because you are not even at a later stage of the season. This is particularly important when the recession will continue and food will always be expensive. The addition of spices can even help your crock pot remains frozen prepared meals in the freezer for longer than food with no spices at all.

And remember, crock pot meals prepared with fresh products are still much cheaper than frozenDinner.

I spend a lot of money for fruit and vegetables.

My children are finally at the point where they eat all kinds of healthy, raw goodies are – right out of the clear and full of goodness: raspberries, cherries, bananas, peaches, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, and the list goes on.

And that's fantastic.

But it is so expensive.

Here are a few tips we have picked up, which will help us to spend (a little) less:

Take advantage of the savings card and> Online Coupons. You can even find free printable food coupons online, so just the coupons you use to print.

New in bulk. Amazon Grocery offers some good deals on healthy foods, so if it got some favorites, your family can not enough of them, compare the price per unit, both online and at your local supermarkets stock.

Join a CSA. Sponsor a community farming initiative and get farm-fresh items delivered per week. Make sure you are not a costanalysis before signing up, though. While CSAs have a number of important benefits (such as supporting local community agriculture) they can sometimes be more expensive than purchasing organic foods in your store.

Shop at farmer’s markets and fruit stands. Even if the food isn’t certified organic, you will be supporting local farmers, which does have additional benefits over purchasing produce that has been shipped across the country to you.

Never shop without a list and never shop If you're hungry.

Prepare most of your meals at home. If you need to, take a cooking class or to subscribe to a healthy cooking magazine such as Cooking Light, keep inspired. By dispensing with the number of meals you eat, you can actually reduce your overall expenditure on food, which is more realistic to spend can make a whole range of fresh produce.

Do not buy things you know, not that you actually eat. If you are shelling out money to ensure fresh herbs, that they do notgo bad in the refrigerator before you use them. If the packages are too big for all of you to use during the shelf life of the product, they should split the product (and costs) with a friend or neighbor.

In the end, sometimes you just have to consider too that you feed your family healthy food and the establishment of healthy habits that will last lifetime. And that is priceless, is not it?
